The Black Covenant of the Two Hearts
Among the forbidden pages of the Black Grimoire of Returning, there is a ritual reserved for those who cannot remain where love asks them to stay.
It is called The Black Covenant of the Two Hearts.
The ritual begins beneath a ceiling draped entirely in black, beneath which rests an altar constructed from the remnants of several beasts. The animal brains represent the fractured instincts of the wandering heart: reason battling desire, fear battling devotion, curiosity battling the longing to belong.
Each beast heart and brain contributes a different force.
The wolf brain represents loyalty.
The raven brain represents memory.
The fox brain represents temptation and escape.
The stag brain represents devotion.
Together, they form the Foundation of the Unsettled Mind.
Above this foundation hangs the centerpiece of the covenant:
Two hearts, carved as one.
They are bound together by ancient-looking iron chains, each link representing a return—the messages sent after silence, the doors reopened after goodbye, the nights spent remembering someone who was supposedly forgotten.
The hearts are not separate.
They cannot be pulled apart.
Yet neither heart is completely still.
They continue to beat.
The purpose of the covenant is to imprison a lovers heart to confront the restless spirit of someone who continually comes and goes—someone who desires intimacy but retreats when it becomes real, who fears commitment yet cannot completely release the person they continue returning to.
The practitioner places their hands over the chained hearts and commands
“Wanderer of the midnight road, you have crossed a thousand thresholds. You have entered, departed, forgotten, remembered, loved, feared, and fled. But there are bonds the distance cannot erase. Let the mind cease its wandering. Let the heart cease its fleeing. Let fear reveal what it hides. Let desire reveal what it truly seeks. If you return, return willingly. If you stay, stay completely. If you love, live fiercely with devotion”.
Keep in mind this is not the ritual that is said or the complete ritual that is shown
At the final words are casted the chains surrounding the hearts are illuminated by candlelight, casting enormous shadows across the alter.
The shadows appear to show two figures repeatedly walking away from one another—only to turn, recognize each other, and walk back.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Until, in the final shadow, neither figure leaves.
The ancient belief surrounding the covenant is that love cannot be made permanent through force. The chains represent something more terrifying than possession: the consequences of finally recognizing what one truly wants.
The wandering lover must face the question hidden at the center of the ritual:
Are you afraid of commitment—or afraid that this is the person you would actually stay for?
And once that question has been spoken aloud, the covenant is considered sealed.
The Crystal Eye Enchantment
The Pig-Faced Severing
A ritual of separation, the Pig-Faced Severing is performed when someone wishes to erase the bond between two people who have caused one another pain.
Whether it’s for a third-party or for the person that hurt you.
At the center of the altar lies a pig head, a symbol of betrayal, selfishness, corruption, and everything the practitioner believes has poisoned the relationship.
The ritual begins in complete silence.
The pig is placed and slowly worked through the parts of the figure that represent the connection between the two people.
The tongue is severed, representing the end of conversations, confessions, promises, arguments, and whispered words.
The eyes are covered in Black Death, representing the end of longing, watching, jealousy, and the misery of seeing what can no longer be possessed.
The heart is removed from the pig and sealed away, representing the destruction of romantic attachment—the declaration that whatever love once existed will no longer have a place to grow.
The intimate area is bound tightly with black cord, nails, glass sheds and more closing of the physical bond and the ending of sexual desire between them.
Finally, the mouth is stitched shut with black thread, sealing the ritual with a final decree of silence: no more messages, no more explanations, no more attempts to reopen what has been closed.
The pig-faced effigy is then wrapped in black cloth and bound with seven knots, each knot representing another thread of the relationship being sealed shut.
The final knot is tied around the figure's mouth.
The ritual ends without triumph or celebration—only silence, darkness, and the symbolic closing of a door that neither person is meant to open again
